16.4. - 13.6.2010 Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig
The exhibition presents seven French projects of the «Nouveaux commanditaires» from 1993 to 2007. It demonstrates the methods of the programme: Why do people want a work of art? To whom do they address this desire? How do they find the right artist?
Sketches, models, examples of works, documentaries and text panels trace how artistic works of international importance are created in a social production process that puts the relationship between art and the public on a new footing.
With projects by Studio Acconci, Steven Gontarsky, Tadashi Kawamata, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Alain Séchas, David Artaud and Xavier Veilhan, and Rémy Zaugg
Curated by Alexander Koch, Ilina Koralova and Barbara Steiner

COMMISSIONING AND PRODUCING ART FOR THE PUBLIC REALM 25/9 - 28/9 2009 Marabouparken, Sweden
Does art in public space have to be characterised by compromise? Public administration, real estate companies, foundations, art institutions, artists and educators - there are plenty of parties involved in commissioning and producing art for the public realm. The different positions create different modes of action and responsibilities.
Creative Planning, Artistic Briefs and New Commissioners:
Issues and themes such as Creative Planning, Artistic Briefs and New Commissioners will be explored, along with in depth views of urban development programmes. We also try to reverse the usual perspective on who is able to take the initiative in the public domain by discussing who the new commissioners of art for public spaces could be.
Presentation of the program NEW PATRONS by Sigrid Pawelke
