Internationally renowned artists from any field with an interest in the model NEW PATRONS and the specific issues of the residents carry out the project, contributing their experience towards completing the project on a high level.

The mediators are renowned art curators and see the model NEW PATRONS as a challenge. They support residents in formulating their issue or concern and defining a project, suggest an artist who is appropriate for the purpose and the context, and accompany the process with their expertise. They have the institutional knowhow necessary to carry out the project successfully.

The relevant offices in the European countries are responsible for the coordination of the programme. They organise events, seminars and publications and offer academic, political, and logistical consulting. In so doing they work hand in hand with the European structure: the European platform of NEW PATRONS consists of a network of currently 24 mediators in eight countries. In France, where the NEW PATRONS programme was initiated, there is also an academic advisory board.

International scholars and writers are invited to analyze specific aspects of the NEW PATRONS and to discuss them.

Until now, more than 2000 residents have participated as NEW PATRONS:

Patrons take the initiative for an art project, formulate their issue or concern, and work with a mediator, the artist, and sponsors or supporters until the realisation of the project.
